Mastering the text editor

Use the text editor to create text, which can then be published on the website.

The text editor is available to create content blocks, blog posts, events, news, and more.
The following screenshot shows the text editor in advanced mode, displaying all formatting options:

Along with the traditional bold, italics, adding bullets and numbering of text and paragraphs the Sitefinity text editor allows you to do the following with your content:

Section contents

  • Copying and pasting
    You can insert already created content from another source using editor’s different pasting functions.
  • Inserting and removing hyperlinks
    You can create hyperlinks to webpages, e-mails, and anchors in the text.
  • Inserting objects
    You can insert various objects, such as tables, images, documents, symbols, and more.
  • Undoing, redoing, and other shortcut key functions
    The text editor also has functions that are not part of the toolbar, such as undoing and redoing.

 

Undo
CTRL+Z
To reverse your last action, press CTRL+Z. 

You can reverse more than one action.
Redo
CTRL+Y
To reverse your last Undo, press CTRL+Y. 

You can reverse more than one action that has been undone.

You can use Redo command only after Undo command.
Select all
CTRL+A
To perform a function on all the content in the text editor, you need to select it all.

Place the cursor anywhere in the text editor and press CTRL+A.
Full screen
F11
To view the text editor in full screen mode, press F11.
  • Other toolbar functions
    You can use additional toolbar and shortcut key functions, such as spellchecking, printing CTRL-P, finding and replacing CTRL-F, and more.
  • Use the text editor in HTML mode
    You can enter and edit text as HTML code by clicking HTML at the bottom of the text editor.

    If you have sufficient HTML knowledge, you can directly modify the text, by modifying the HTML code.

    Embedding images, videos, and documents

    You can make the text editor to display images, videos, and links to documents by embedding them in the HTML.

    To embed an object, perform the following:
    1. Open the Images, Videos, or Documents page respectively.
    2. Click Embed this images, Embed this video, or Embed link to this file respectively and copy the string of Embed input field.
    3. In the text editor, switch to HTML mode and paste the string where you want the object to appear.

    To switch back to Design mode, click Design at the bottom of the text editor.
